Force Testing

Here at Rawson Automation we actively promote for all gates and barriers to be force tested, whether they have been installed by our team or not. The force tests we complete allow us to ensure you that the pressures exerted are within acceptable, safety limits.

When our team install a new gate or barrier we then undertake a Force Test and Risk Assessment that will be documented. This documentation can then be used to meet any Health and Safety obligations you have.

Our specialised engineers also complete barrier force testing on all electric barriers

When we force test and assess your gate/barrier this will involve a total of 27 tests being completed on each motorised gate system. Our fully trained engineers will test the vertical measurements, distances from the closing position of the gate and also the average N in force. If this force is over 400N the gate fails the test and a safety device must be fitted to the gate.

We also carry out over 27 tests on the electric swing gate too, we measure the gate vertically and the distances from closing position  three times to take an average and we test the N as we did with the sliding gate. If obstructions such as walls or fences are in 500mm area of the swing gate we ensure the electric gates can open fully without damage to them or the possible obstructions.

Our specialised engineers also complete barrier force testing on all electric barriers, each test is measured from 200mm from the top of the beam, each measurement is taken three times to get an average and again, if the average force test results exceed 400N a safety device should be fitted to allow the barrier to pass the test.

The team at Rawson Automation feel that the force test on electric gates and barriers is essential and this is why we complete this test and assessment on all installations. Other companies do not feel this is quite so important so if you think your electric gate or barrier has not been force tested give us a call and we can give you a quote to get it tested and documented for your health and safety regulations and for your peace of mind too.
